Dell Stop the “Pre Installed” Ubuntu

Dell has decided to suspend sales of laptops and PCs using the Ubuntu operating system, one based on open source distro of Linux. Still, the company said sales would still make laptops and PCs using Ubuntu if there is a demand from its customers only.

Dell has been offering consumer select the system with Ubuntu pre-installed for more than two years. However, Dell decided to remove the Ubuntu machine from its online sales channel because it was considered more suitable platform for advanced users and computing enthusiasts. Thus, Dell’s online sales try to simplify and focus on its superior products.

This decision was a bit surprising because in the last month, Dell said that Ubuntu is more secure than the Microsoft Windows operating system and offers more protection when browsing the web. “Ubuntu is more secure than Windows, most viruses and spyware do not target Linux to be targeted in attacks that hackers do,” said Dell.
